Midwest Road Warrior

When I started in the business several years ago, I read about scouts who were on the road all the time checking out the nation's top prep football talent. The past few years working for ESPN, I've been hitting the road in the Midwest, visiting high schools and interviewing players. I get to see tomorrow's stars in person which is a big leg up on the competition. These are my stories from the road.

Illinois QB Climbing Charts

I haven't seen his name spelled correctly in any story or profile on the world wide web but it won't be long before everyone knows who Reilly (not Riley) O'Toole is. The 6-3, 195-pound, quarterback, from Wheaton (Ill.) Warrenville South, helped lead his Tigers to a state championship in 2009.

"Reilly is my next big-time prospect," said Wheaton coach Ron Muhitch. "He's got it all. He can throw it, he can run it, he's got confidence in his ability to play the game and lead but his biggest attribute is that he's a winner. Reilly O'Toole is the guy you want in that huddle with the game on the line."

O'Toole doesn't have the scholarship offers that fellow Illinois 2011 prospects DaVaris Daniels, Evan Spencer and Jordan Walsh have but it won't be long before the potential suiters come calling.

Notice to new Kansas head coach Turner Gill. O'Toole grew up in Kansas and lived there until he was 7-years old. His parents are both KU grads.

We'll have more on Reilly O'Toole including comments from the man himself in the near future.

NPN clients can check out Reilly O'Toole in action. We have WWS tape in the database.
